Burglary in Progress . . .

The house is changing so fast! I can’t believe how fast it changes, but I know that once the brick/stone are on the changes will slow down. Here is an updated front view . . .

I always show the front so here is a view from the back . . . would love to tell what each room is but there might be some crazy person reading . . . Can you say too many windows with a little boy who loves to touch everything? I love windows though.

Earlier in the day I met the builder and decided where to put the ironing board (yuck), electrical plugs, cable outlets, and phone jacks . . . my dad asked if he could take some of the discarded wood and he said, "take it now because tomorrow they are cleaning it up." I told him we would come back later in the evening to get some so if the police called, it would be us. We all laughed and parted ways.

Later in the evening we went back and spent about 40 minutes looking around while my dad loaded some old scrap lumber. Colin frolicked in the sand and ran wild on the empty lot. It started to get dark so we left. As we were nearing the end of the street a police car comes sliding around the corner . . . we stopped because we knew. I mean it was a dead end street so it wasn’t like we were going to escape. At the next street was an old couple standing at the end of their driveway watching the action unfold . . . all the neighbors were out on my street too since their guests were leaving . . . oh great now everyone thinks we have done something wrong. The police officer approaches the car and tells us that a report was called in for a burglary in progress . . . we explain that it is my house and we got permission from the builder. He takes our driver’s license and needs to make sure everything is okay. Even though I knew I was innocent and had no warrants there was that sense of “what if?” . . . my heart beat a little faster especially when two more police cars showed up! All was well and he apologized for the confusion. I told him no problem and that I was glad to see they acted promptly especially since I would be living in the area soon. My future tax dollars at work . . . guess they will be worth it after all! I just wonder who called the police . . . maybe at our first block party someone will confess.

That is too funny. At least you did't get hauled off in handcuffs in front of your new neighbors!

The garage is the far right window . . . the one without a window above it.

LOL Heidi! Stopped for burglarizing (is that a word?) your own house. That sounds like something that would happen to me. The house is looking great!

First off the house looks FABULOUS! I love, love, love all the windows. I laughed out loud when I read about the police ~ but thank goodness for the "neighborhood watch." Nosy neighbors annoy the heck out of me but I love them anyway ~ they keep the neighborhood safe.

One time my brother didn't have a house key while my parents were out of town, so he broke one of those small basement windows to get in. Our neighbors called the cops on him too!

Your new home is looking great - Ilove the progress. When we moved into our home my mother in law did a bit of scavenging herself! The police were not called - but maybe they should have been.
