We had a guest yesterday . . .

. . . Murphy is starting to show his age but was still running around like a young pup. It is hard to beleive he will be 10 in a few months.

. . . Papa helped pull it with pliers!

25 years

It is hard to believe that 25 years have passed since space shuttle Challenger's accident. I remember it so vividly . . . shocked and glued to the TV . . . I was only 12 years old but it was a moment in history that you never forget.

wanted

I have been so down in the dumps about life the last few months . . . just unmotivated about every aspect of life . . . all this causes me great sadness, but I really am trying to move forward . . . throw in the mix that it is the last ditch effort to get kids to learn before the big testing season. I figured I needed something to occupy my time so was considering making a 'bucket list' . . . I mean maybe 40 things to do before I turn 40? CRAP, that is like in less than three years . . . hmmmm, add some depression in there too. Anyway, does anyone do this? Of course I was thinking maybe I should make a list of 40 places to visit before 40? I guess that would mean I would have to make it with many near by places since I can't jet set every month. Suggestions?

I am also seeking a travel buddy . . . must be able to put up with a sweet, seven year old boy . . . well and me too; trust me I can be a pill some times too but personally think I am not too bad . . . no comments on those who have traveled with me unless they are nice, LOL. Traveling alone with a child just isn't as fun . . . don't get me wrong we have a blast but at some point I need some adult conversation too. And some times I travel without child so that is an option too . . .

And out of the mouth of that sweet boy today . . . on the way to a doctor appointment (he now has eczema) after we stopped for Starbucks . . .
C: Mom, you aren't suppose to drink and drive
H: Colin, that is if your drink is beer or alcohol
C: Oh, well XXXX drinks beer.
H: Yes, I know that but not when they drive.
C: Okay, and no talking on the phone either
. . . I don't talk on the phone when I drive but Colin LOVES to point out every person who is which by the way is about every other car! I want to go back to the days of only have a land line phone . . . maybe even a party line too!

We just spent 45 minutes playing a game of checkers . . . oh and I lectured the entire time about me not letting him win . . . seriously it annoys me that adults let kids win, LOL. Oh and I lost! Silly me . . . no bitterness I swear! I also lectured at one point when I was winning on how I had 30 more years of checker playing experience . . . he looked at me as if he wanted to remind me that I am OLD! Good thing he was smart enough to keep his mouth shut and said nothing.

I'm having a better week . . . got some things off my chest but still trying to resolve some things too.

thankful

I have really appreciated all the wonderful birthday wishes today. I never realized how much a few words could brighten my day! THANKS for all the warm thoughts and messages . . . have been dealing with consequences from some decisions I made last year and I have been feeling down lately. It is just really nice to know there are so many out there who think about me on my special day!
