humor

I have been deleting old emails; this one that made me laugh . . .

U R A Texan If:
1. You can properly pronounce Corsicana, Palestine, Decatur, Wichita Falls, San Antonio, Burnet, Boerne, Nacogdoches, Mexia, Waco, Amarillo, and Waxahachie.

2. A tornado warning siren is your signal to go out in the yard and look for a funnel.

3. You've ever had to switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day.

4. You know that the true value of a parking space is not determined by the distance to the door, but by the availability of shade.

5. Stores don't have bags, they have sacks.

6. You see people wear bib overalls at funerals.

7. You measure distance in minutes.

8. Little Smokies are something you serve only for special occasions.

9. You go to the lake because you think it is like going to the ocean.

10. You listen to the weather forecast before picking out an outfit.

11. You know cowpies are not made of beef.

12. Someone you know has used a football schedule to plan their wedding date.

13. You have known someone who has had a belt buckle bigger than your fist.

14. You aren't surprised to find movie rental, ammunition, and bait all in the same store.

15. Your "place at the lake" has wheels under it.

16. A Mercedes Benz is not a status symbol; a Ford F350 4x4 is.

17. You know everything goes better with Ranch dressin'.

18. You learned how to shoot a gun before you learned how to multiply.

19. You actually understand this and you are "fixin' to" send it to your friends.

20. Finally, you are 100% Texan if you have ever heard this conversation:
"You wanna coke?"
"Yeah."
"What kind?"
"Dr. Pepper!"

Foto Friday: Aggieland

You know I loved my years at Texas A&M . . . just some great memories and even better friends. Each time I go to College Station I realize just how much I loved that place but glad to not be living there . . . all those college kids would get on my nerves! Anyway, we were there on Monday for the re-dedication of the Aggie Veterans Memorial . . . many new names were added . . . I think I remember hearing that the last dedication was in 1969 so a few wars have taken place. It was a last minute discovery of the event and glad I took Colin . . . who was a dream and acted so beyond a five year old! Okay so when I went to snap a photo of him in front of the plaque he was so a five year old but the last picture speaks to me the most . . . sometimes the photos that don't show the face speak the loudest . . . oh and he found the name all by himself. I know that someday he will walk through those arches of the quad (at least I hope so) and be proud to follow in his father's footsteps.

Muster Reflections

Well yesterday was a special day for Aggies around the world. I did not post as I could not find the words. I was in College Station on Monday for a dedication . . . another post soon . . . I heard that Secretary of Defense Robert Gates was going to be the campus Muster speaker and really wanted to hear him. So tonight I went to the local tv station's website to see if I could find his speech. Here is the article from the local newspaper too. What did we do before the internet?

Now I know over the last year or so I have really expressed my disappointment in Dr. Gates and some of his decisions BUT after I watched his speech I saw him differently . . . his words were so filled with pride and listening to the emotions in his voice I realized he is a human being. After listening to him talk of our soldiers that are deployed, reading a portion of a letter an Aggie wrote days before the war began, and his thoughts on the 22 Aggies that have been killed; I KNOW that he puts a lot of thought into his decisions. I have always respected him and well tonight a little more . . . I feel bad for thinking he made decisions without thought . . . so I still don't agree with the Dover decision but have let that go. I can't imagine how he must feel doing the job he has to do. So thanks Dr. Gates . . . I know you will always remember!

today's thought

I saw this on a blog sidebar . . . really got me thinking . . .
Life is too short to wake up with regrets.
So love the people who treat you right.
Love the ones who don't because you can.
Believe everything happens for a reason.
If you get a second chance,
grab it with both hands.
If it changes your life, let it.
Kiss slowly.
Forgive quickly.
No one said life would be easy.
Just promised it would be worth it.

Foto Friday: favorite bunny

One of my absolute favorite photos of Colin (3 months old) and I know I post it every year . . . hope all have a Happy Easter . . .
. . . and when I look at that outfit he has on I just get a little teary eyed and can't believe he was so tiny!

off day post

Hey it is only Thursday and I am posting . . . silly me! Anyway, I finally watched the series finale of ER . . . I so hated the ending!!! I like closure and there wasn't any . . . oh well guess I need a new show to watch. I am sure missing The Amazing Race too! You know what else annoys me? All the silly emails I get from stores . . . I swear it took me over an hour to unsubscribe to their emails . . . and I am sure they will still keep sending them. I guess that is what happens when you shop the internet; which I totally love! Not much happening around here . . . just in a holding pattern for the big summer trips; have I mentioned how excited I am?

Foto Friday: tulips

Hey I haven't broke tradition of posting only on Friday . . . just another week closer to vacation! I can't wait . . . really can't wait and you will probably hear that every time I post but really come on July!!!

Anyway, I can't remember if I ever posted this but one of my favorite flowers is tulips . . . can you guess my absolute favorite? Right now in The Netherlands it is tulip time . . . think thousands and thousands of flowers every where and just breath taking! I swear I really never expected to see that many tulips in one place and growing in fields every where.
